Two points separated first from second place overall heading into the final day of racing in Shanghai. Only two more races of the full slate of 15 races were needed, so the pressure was at a maximum to decide the winners.
The leaders, Xuezhe and Xiaoxiao, took a very tight first race, and then the trailers, Junjie and Yingying were OCS in the final race to secure the win for Xuezhe and Xiaoxiao by 5 points in the end. The duo overcame an early regatta deficit to rattle off wins in 7 of the final 8 races and claim the Olympic berth for China.
